Hersheypark July 1997 (Part 2 of 5)

Welcome back! We had a record day yesterday in pageviews (300+!) and I hope we can keep upping that trend daily!

Today we've got three more shots from 1997 highlighting the Version 2 characters of Hersheypark!

Up first we have Hershey's Chocolate Syrup!

Who can ever get enough of this stuff? I remember adding as much as I could to my glasses of milk as a kid!

Hershey's Syrup was (to the best of my knowledge) not one of the original walk around characters from the park despite the fact that his concept artwork has been around since 1972!

He underwent only minor changes when he went to Version 3 in the early to mid 2000's and has retained his cow spotted sunglasses, a nice reference to the milk used to make Hershey's Milk Chocolate.

Up next is Peppermint Patty and for some reason she just does not look like a happy character...

She underwent some major changes between this version and her current Version 3 costume today. Now she is much more like a female version of the current Version 3 Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and has lost her Peppermint Patty texture.

Our sendoff for today will be one with both characters in the picture showing off the cartoon look of these characters from Version 2 that would continue on in Version 3. From Version 1 to Version 2 we saw a great loss of some of the skeuomorphic textures present in the costumes. While some are still present here, such as Patty's texture and Hershey Bar's breakable pieces seen in yesterday's post, they were all removed by Version 3.

That wraps things up for today! Check back tomorrow for some obscure characters that have been retired or rarely make appearances today!
