Hersheypark June 1993 (Part 3 of 4)

Today we have three shots for you, all of some of the kiddie rides at Hersheypark in 1993. As posted earlier in the week, these are the attractions that would have been at the park specifically for those in the "Hershey's Kisses" height range.

Two out of the three attractions you will see today are still at the park being enjoyed by guests!

Up first is the lone attraction in this batch that has been sent to Yesterland (or has it...)!

A little bit of Wikipedia research on former Hersheypark attractions tells us that the bulldozers above originally opened in 1975 as the "Tiny Tanks". With violence and guns becoming less popular amongst parents with young children, these tanks were redressed and repainted for the 1980 season as bulldozers with raisable plows and was renamed "Earthmovers".

While the Earth Movers were removed from Hersheypark in 2002, they were not retired for good. Instead, the attraction was relocated to another property Hershey owned at the time of removal, Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA. The ride is still operating today, albeit under a different name, "Duke's Dozers".

Our next image for today is of the Bizzy Bees attraction, still at the park today! The Bees originally donned turrets and a wartime paint scheme, as seems to be a similar trend amongst these older attractions presented today. The attraction opened in 1965 as the "Super Jet" and I am unsure of when exactly the jets became the bees. If you know, please comment and let us know!

And lastly, our sendoff today is of my Dad and I enjoying the Tiny Timbers miniature log flume attraction. These smaller flumes are great for families with small children that might not be big enough yet for the full sized flumes and larger thrill rides. Tiny Timbers is still floating along at the park today, 19 years after this picture was taken!

Take note of the pinwheel logo on the front of the log boat that Hershey used throughout the 90's and early 2000's. It was replaced somewhat recently with this one.

Also in this picture are the actual Hershey Factory smokestacks. The dummy ones at the front of the park do a very good job making children believe that they're the real thing and set up the Chocolate World Factory Tour perfectly. I have to say though, I enjoy the 1993 version of the tour much better as there were no singing animatronic cows back then to break the "reality" of being inside of a working chocolate factory. My guess is that they were added to make the attraction more appealing to families with young children.

That wraps things up for today folks! Come back tomorrow for a sweet Hersheypark treat, the Hersheypark walk around characters as they appeared in 1993! Believe me when I say they look much different than they do now!
